The Autonomous Tactical Light Armour System (ATLAS) Collaborative Combat Variant (CCV) is an advanced 8x8 unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) designed for high levels of autonomy in both on- and off-road conditions. Developed by BAE Systems, the ATLAS CCV integrates proven autonomous and armored vehicle technologies to offer a modular, cost-effective solution for modern combat environments. The vehicle can be mission-configurable and upgraded to address evolving technologies and threats, ensuring adaptability in the field. Its autonomy system enables driving, obstacle avoidance, route planning, and tactical decision-making without direct human intervention.
One of the key features of the ATLAS CCV is the VANTAGE ATS™ turret system, a lightweight, highly automated medium-caliber weapon designed for uncrewed platforms. Despite its high automation, the system incorporates a human-in-the-loop targeting mechanism to ensure precise engagement in combat scenarios. This advanced turret, combined with the vehicle's autonomous capabilities, positions the ATLAS CCV as an effective support tool alongside crewed vehicles such as infantry fighting vehicles and main battle tanks.
The ATLAS CCV is also designed for operational flexibility and ease of deployment. It can be transported in standard 20-foot ISO containers or flat racks, allowing for quick movement to and from combat zones. Additionally, the UGV serves as a logistics force multiplier by extending the combat endurance of crewed platforms, providing crucial support in maintaining operational effectiveness over extended periods.
